The strategy has a lot of good points:
• Limit single occupancy vehicles (private cars) driving through and around the city centre
• Expand pedestrian areas
• Strictly enforced bus lanes
• More active travel infrastructure (main reason people don’t cycle more in Liverpool is because of the lack of infrastructure)
• Reducing car parking provision in the city centre
But LCC has given itself until 2045 to deliver these changes. This doesn’t make any sense as LCC has a 2030 net-zero target and the Combined Authority has a 2035 net-zero target. There is no way of getting to net-zero by those deadlines without radical action on transport, reducing the number of cars driving and miles driven.
